Dear HCCTC Parents and Community:
We want to inform you that we were notified of our second confirmed case of COVID-19 in our
building, more specifically in the AM Culinary program. The affected individual immediately
reached out to our pandemic coordinator upon receiving the positive diagnosis. This action triggered
our protocol which calls for remote instruction for the affected program. Our classroom and shop
areas help us maintain social distancing however contact tracing is more difficult due to the fluid
movement throughout the shop. This is why our protocol calls for the affected program/session to
move to remote learning for 14 days from last contact, which was Wednesday, October 7th.
Symptom-free students may again attend face-to-face instruction on Wednesday, October 21st
THIS AFFECTS AM / MORNING ONLY STUDENTS IN THE CULINARY ARTS PROGRAM.
We immediately contacted the AM program sending schools with a list of students in the AM
Culinary program. The HCCTC and/or home school will reach out to individuals today who are
considered close contacts to alert them to their exposure and to explain that each close contact will
need to quarantine for 14 days from the last exposure to that person.
For clarification, a close contact based on proximity is anyone who was within six feet of the positive
person for 15 minutes or more. Anyone who is determined to be a close contact must quarantine for
14 days from the last exposure. If the quarantined person becomes symptomatic, he or she needs to
call a medical professional and a 10-day isolation period should begin immediately. We will reach
out to DOH this morning and ask for any additional help with this situation.
We appreciate our community’s and county’s support during this time. We have completed 34 successful days of five days a week instruction with 100% of the students in attendance. This is a testament to our students and staff implementing handwashing, sanitizing and the wearing of face-coverings while still maintaining a high level of instruction.
The program instructor will be reaching out to the students with instructions and assignments.
If you have a student who is being tested for COVID-19, please notify our school nurse and keep
your child at home while you await results. Thank you for your cooperation during this time. Updates
will be provided as we know more. We strive to be transparent but must refrain from rushing to
provide information until we can provide the most accurate information.
